This webinar will focus on the Teaching and Learning domain of the Educating for Equality model, which adopts a whole-of-university approach to the prevention of gender-based violence.

This session is designed for university educators who want to explore how to embed prevention into their curriculum, teaching practice, and learning environments.

About this webinar

Prevention within this domain can involve examining what is taught, how it is taught, and the environment in which students learn. While this is valuable work, there may also be challenges or barriers to implementation which much be addressed or navigated.

This session will support academics to ensure that students’ understanding of respect, gender, power, and consent is positively influenced throughout their educational journey ultimately shaping future professionals who can contribute to a more equal and respectful society.

In this session, participants will gain:

  • a clear understanding of how prevention can be embedded across the lifespan of curriculum and across disciplines
  • practical approaches to incorporating prevention content and principles into teaching and learning contexts
  • strategies for creating safe, respectful spaces for prevention conversations in the classroom, including responding to disclosures
  • a deeper understanding of potential challenges and opportunities when incorporating prevention content and practices
  • an overview of available resources, including the Prevention in Teaching and Learning (PTL) resources, training opportunities, and ready-to-use presentation materials.

This session is a practical and supportive space for academics seeking to champion prevention in their teaching and learning environments and contribute to lasting cultural change within the university sector.
