About this session

We know you're leading a newsroom in a demanding climate: navigating the pressures to be relevant to your audiences and to reach new ones, competition from AI and new media content producers, and the relentless 24-hour news cycle, while still delivering the stories that matter. This session recognises that and is designed to help you deliver stories about violence against women in a way that evidence shows works to prevent this violence.

You'll get a concise overview of how national violence prevention organisation Our Watch can support you and your teams to:

  • strengthen reporting on violence against women through small but powerful editorial shifts
  • access information on available training and resources that improve story quality and newsroom impact
  • learn how Our Watch can support media executives in creating safer, more gender-equitable workplaces
  • connect with Our Watch’s Media Relations team for expert commentary, interviews, and background information.

Our Watch is here to work with you, offer insights, and support you in elevating stories your audiences care about. This is about building on your existing leadership, acknowledging the work you’ve already done, and offering tools that can help strengthen your impact in this space.

There’ll also be time to share your views, ask questions, and discuss challenges or pressures you and your staff face in reporting on gender-based violence.
