Our Watch is pleased to welcome Regan Mitchell to a newly-created role as Head of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy.

Regan is a proud Wiradjuri-Ngunnawal woman, born and raised in Cowra NSW.

Regan joins Our Watch after an impressive career providing frontline support to women experiencing violence at Weave Youth and Community Services, where she worked as a Prevention Specialist, Domestic Violence Program Manager and Caseworker.

Regan is recognised in the prevention sector and community as a strong source of knowledge and expertise, and is a leading advocate for attitudinal and systemic change around family violence and abuse.

She is Chair of the Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre, an Executive Member of the Aboriginal Women’s Advisory Network, and a member of the DVNSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Committee.

The new Head of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy role was developed following consultations with both internal and external Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders about how Our Watch could make a more substantial and strategic contribution to preventing violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Our Watch CEO Patty Kinnersly said Regan’s appointment would strengthen Our Watch’s work to prevent violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, and would work closely with Our Watch’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Steering Committee.

“We are excited to have Regan join us as a senior leader within Our Watch, and her appointment brings valuable skills and experience to our team,” Ms. Kinnersly said.

“This new role is a pivotal part of the leadership team at Our Watch, and will work closely with the Board and Executive to provide important cultural insight and ensure our strategies, plans and policies are effective within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities”.
