Our Watch seeks proposals from qualified evaluators to undertake the external evaluation of the Faith as a strength: preventing violence against women project, delivered in partnership with the Nossal Institute Limited.
Background
Our Watch is delivering the Faith as a strength: preventing violence against women project in collaboration with the Nossal Institute Limited. This project recognises the power and influence of faith as part of the solution to preventing gender-based violence. It aims to explore, amplify and support primary prevention practices across diverse faith-based settings, communities and cohorts.
In 2023–2024, Our Watch conducted background research and consultation with groups and organisations representing a broad range of faith communities. In March 2025, the Nossal Institute began supporting the implementation phase of the project, which will run until October 2026.
The project involves:
- establishing a Project Advisory Group (PAG) to engage and collaborate with individuals and communities from diverse faith-based settings
- developing up to five resources to support primary prevention activity in faith-based settings.
The project is guided by the following objectives:
- Support and coordinate meaningful engagement with multiple and diverse faith communities.
- Centre community knowledge lived experiences and faith-based strengths in the development of primary prevention strategies.
- Create practical, evidence-informed resources that respond to the needs of those working in faith-based settings.
- Contribute to the evidence base through evaluation and shared learning to inform future prevention efforts.
Applications
We are inviting proposals from evaluators with experience in community-based, culturally responsive evaluation approaches, particularly in diverse and faith-based contexts.
Your evaluation proposal should:
- Outline an evaluation approach that is inclusive of the voices, needs and strengths of the communities engaged in the project.
- Respond to key evaluation questions (outlined in Section 4.4 of the Request for Proposal document), while offering recommendations for preferred methodology, data collection tools and stakeholder consultation.
- Include strategies to engage the PAG and other community stakeholders in the evaluation design and data collection processes.
- Detail how the findings will contribute to both continuous improvement and broader sector learning around intersectional prevention practice in faith-based settings.
Key deliverables
- A final evaluation report (due November 2026).
- A series of learning briefs (due December 2026), which may be made publicly available and published on the Our Watch website.
