Submission to Review of Sexual Consent Laws in South Australia
In this submission, Our Watch:
- Provides feedback on the benefits of adopting an affirmative model of consent, recognising that this would align the legal definition of giving consent with best practice Respectful relationships education.
- Highlights that legislative change alone will not see the necessary behavioural change in the community to prevent sexual violence, and that adoption of an affirmative model of consent must be paired with best practice, evidence-based Respectful relationships education.
