We welcome the Northern Territory’s Government invitation for submissions the Care and Protection of Children Legislation Amendment (Every Child Matters) Bill 2026.
Throughout our submission, we provide evidence that shows that the legislation in its current form would not achieve its ambitions to keep children safer, and in fact, would likely have unintended negative consequences.
