As a young girl, Tasma Walton witnessed her mother struggle to keep herself and her children alive in a home fraught with domestic violence.
As young adult she was perplexed by society’s questions that placed blame on the female victim, instead of the male perpetrator.
Tasma sees her ambassador role as a way to offer effective and long-lasting support to women and their children attempting to free themselves from domestic violence, and to transform attitudes and beliefs so that we can stop violence against women before it starts.
Tasma is based in New South Wales.
Now, as the number of Australian women killed by their partners surpasses one woman a week, it is time to urgently shift our focus from asking why she stays, to the question of why he abuses.
