Manager, Media & Communications


 
Our Watch is a national not-for-profit established in 2013 to drive nation-wide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children.

Funding for programs and campaigns for the next financial year has been confirmed and an opportunity now exists to be a part of the Our Watch Media & Communications team. This team is responsible for engaging people in action to prevent violence against women through marketing campaigns, media engagement and corporate communications.   

The Media and Communications team is looking for a Manager, Media and Communications to develop Our Watch’s strategic approach to media and communications and manage all related activity. 

Reporting to the Director, Media & Communications you will manage complex public relations and media issues and provide high-level, strategic media, issues-management and communications advice to the CEO, Senior Executive Team and Chair of the Board. You will also lead a team of Media and Communications Advisors and provide oversight of all media-related projects. This role includes oversight of Our Watch social media presence and ambassador program.   

You will work as part of cross-functional project teams, including working closely with the Policy & Evaluation and Practice Leadership teams to ensure all media and communications activities are fully integrated across the organisation.

A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field and proven experience in providing high-level strategic leadership on media issues, the development of media and communications strategies, project management and people management are essential for this role.  

This is a Fixed term full-time position to 30 June 2019.
