​Senior Policy Advisor, Young People

Our Watch is a national not-for-profit established in 2013 to drive nation-wide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children. 

Funding for programs and campaigns for the next financial year have been confirmed and an opportunity now exists to be a part of the Our Watch Policy & Evaluation team. This team is responsible for the development and improvement of policies, programs, legislation, plans and strategies for the prevention of violence against women and their children across Australia. 

The Policy and Evaluation team is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor, Young People to lead Our Watch’s primary prevention programs that focus on young people (aged 12-25). You will be responsible for leading research and policy development on young people and the primary prevention of violence against women and children, to inform policy advice to government, shape communication campaigns and contribute to the development of practice tools and resources aligned to Our Watch’s organisational goals and our children and young people strategy.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Children and Young People (CYP) you will work as part of a cross-functional project team with Senior Marketing and Communications Advisors to support the development and delivery of campaigns.

Experience working on issues of social justice, gender equality, children’s rights and development, and the prevention of violence against women with children and young people is required. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and relationship management skills, critical thinking, research, project management and analytical skills are also essential for this role.  

This is a Fixed term full-time position to 30 June 2019.
