​Senior Media & Communications Advisor - Engagement

Our Watch is a national not-for-profit established in 2013 to drive nation-wide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children.

Funding for programs and campaigns for the next financial year has been confirmed and an opportunity now exists to be a part of the Our Watch Media & Communications team. This team is responsible for engaging people in action to prevent violence against women through marketing campaigns, media engagement and corporate communications.   

The Media and Communications team is looking for a Senior Media and Communications Advisor – Engagement to develop, implement and evaluate Our Watch’s media and communications activity.

Reporting to the Manager, Media & Communications and working as part of cross-functional project teams, you will develop proactive and reactive media plans, respond to media enquiries, research and write opinion pieces, prepare speeches and presentations, and provide communications support to cross-organisational projects. You will also manage the Our Watch ambassador program, inclusive of communicating with ambassadors, proactively seeking media/event opportunities, and writing speeches and opinion pieces on behalf of ambassadors.

A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field and extensive experience in media and communications strategy, proactive media management, stakeholder engagement and project management are essential for this role.  

This is a Fixed term full-time position to 30 June 2019.
