Our Watch is a national, independent not for profit organisation established in 2013 to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children.  Our vision is an Australia where women and their children live free from all forms of violence.  Our mandate is to stop violence before it happens, and our purpose is to provide national leadership to prevent all forms of violence against women and their children.  Our work is based on sound research and strong and diverse partnerships.   

About you

You are an experienced organisational leader with extensive experience across marketing, media and communications. You will have exceptional people and stakeholder management skills with a considered mature approach, be highly organised and evidence-based in your approach. You will be a strategic thinker and a persuasive communicator who is naturally collaborative, both internally and externally, to achieve great outcomes.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and leading a team of 14, the Director, Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading Our Watch’s work across marketing, media, digital and corporate communications. Key responsibilities include;
  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end design, development, implementation and evaluation of Our Watch’s marketing campaigns, ensuring campaigns are evidence-based, effective and based on best-practice social marketing approaches.
  • Provide high-level strategic media and communications advice and briefings across the organisation, including issues management.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including federal and state government departments and other sector organisations.  
  • Participate actively as a member of the Senior Executive Team, including contributing to organisational planning and decision making.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of marketing and communications professionals, actively developing their skills through performance reviews, coaching and professional development.
