The Awards are an annual celebration of excellence, dedication and innovation in public health, and the sector’s ability to drive change and improve health outcomes for all Victorians.

The Line is a primary prevention, social marketing, behavioural change campaign that helps young people aged 12-20 to negotiate healthy, respectful and consensual relationships.

The campaign also supports parents, carers, teachers, educators, coaches and other influencers in this learning.

Our Watch CEO Patty Kinnersly explained: “There is overwhelming evidence showing that people who have trouble understanding what constitutes respectful relationships, and adhere to rigid gender roles, are more likely to support, overlook or even perpetrate violence against women.”

“By getting in early and supporting young people to negotiate healthy, respectful and consensual relationships, we have a chance of stopping violence before it starts.

“We are humbled to have been nominated for this Award, and to have our name alongside stellar organisations working to advance gender equality and prevent violence against women and their children.

“Congratulations to fellow nominees Women’s Health Grampians, North Melbourne Football Club, City of Wodonga, and Macedon Ranges Shire Council for their groundbreaking work in this space.

“We thank VicHealth for the acknowledgement of our work, and to current and previous Our Watch team members for bringing the campaign to life,” Ms Kinnersly added.
